Designed to give you a comprehensive overview of Gibraltar, this 90-minute mini-coach tour showcases the city's must-see sights. Also included is a walking tour of the 18th-century fortress known as King's Bastion, built to protect Gibraltar from coastal incursion.
Set off on a brief panoramic drive, skirting the fortress walls and passing Camp Bay. Here, take in perfect views of Parson's Lodge, whose serene name belies the fact that it's actually a fortification rebuilt by the British in 1842 atop an original installation dating back to 1720.
Journey on to Europa Point to photograph the beautiful, red and white striped lighthouse that dominates the landscape of Europe's southernmost point. The Ibrahim-al-Ibrahim Mosque across the street was gifted to Gibraltar by King Fahd Al-Saud in 1997.
Your leisurely tour continues to Catalán Bay, which boasts sweeping views of the charming town perched on the edge of the sea.
The King's Bastion was built in 1773 and was the scene of the fiercest fighting during the Great Siege of 1782 (an unsuccessful attempt by Spain and France to capture Gibraltar). Despite the onslaught of 20,000 Spanish and French soldiers and 12 artillery ships, the fortress held off the enemy for three years. Walk among the bastion's many compartments. Guns, uniforms and other exhibits represent the era. Rumors that the fort is haunted persist, with many soldiers buried in the adjacent graveyard. Typically, Gibraltar has incorporated a state-of-the-art leisure center into the bastion, seamlessly combining old and new.
Return to the ship afterward. Time permitting, guests wishing to stay in town to shop or explore independently are welcome to do so, but must make their own way back to the ship.
