Experience the rich history of Poland's medieval era on this active full-day tour. The fabled port city of Gdansk is more than 1,000 years old — a bustling cultural center and the place where World War II began.
Malbork Castle is one of Poland's oldest, dating back to 1274. Located on the banks of the sparkling blue Nogat River and set against rolling green landscape, this impressive red-brick fortress sits. It features dramatic dungeons, mazes of tunnels, twisting towers, and vaulted rooms. Explore the castle with your knowledgeable guide. Exhibition halls feature collections of ceramics, sculptures and Baltic amber. You will have free time to shop for souvenirs here.
Back in Gdansk, enjoy a traditional lunch at a restaurant with views over the Motlawa River.
On guided walk through the Old Town, you'll admire the Golden Gate, an ornamental 16th-century arch. Stroll down 13th-century Long Street and note the Town Hall's Gothic, Renaissance and Baroque architecture. You'll see Artus Court — a 15th-century merchant's palace — and pause at Neptune's Fountain for photos of the trident-wielding bronze behemoth.
The pride of Gdansk is St Mary's Basilica — the world's largest brick church with capacity for 25,000 worshippers. Step inside for a guided tour.
Shop for souvenirs, including amber jewelry.
