Unstable ice and geological conditions currently preclude vessels from entering Tracy Arm Fjord; all 2026 departures will explore Endicott Arm Fjord instead. Endicott Arm offers a stunning view of Dawes Glacier, an active tidewater glacier that regularly calves large icebergs into the fjord.
Join this exclusive opportunity to see the very best of the Tracy Arm Wilderness Area, including exciting, close-up views of the majestic Sawyer Glaciers in Tracy Arm, or Dawes Glacier in Endicott Arm.
Your adventure begins as soon as you board a high-speed catamaran , transferring to the vessel directly from your cruise ship. Relax in the warm, spacious cabin, surrounded by large windows as your experienced captain guides you past curious seals resting on floating icebergs.
As you cruise Tracy Arm, the onboard naturalist will provide a wealth of information about the area, which naturalist John Muir called "one of the most dramatically stunning fjords of Southeast Alaska." While exploring the length of this ice-carved fjord, you will cruise beneath cliffs that rise 4,000-feet above the jade-colored sea, and you can feel the mist on your face as the vessel maneuvers almost directly under a plunging waterfall. There will also be frequent stops for you to view and photograph wildlife, such as pigeon guillemots, bald eagles, harbor seals, mountain goats and bears.
The extraordinary maneuverability of the vessel will allow you to get as close as possible to the ever-changing face of the glacier.
From the topside observation deck, enjoy this unforgettable experience with all your senses. You can sometimes even feel the "white thunder" as immense spires of ice break from the glacier and crash into the sea.
Before heading away from the ice pack, if ice conditions allow, you will also view the beautiful North Sawyer Glacier, which cannot be approached by large cruise ships.
Enjoy a variety of included food samples served by the friendly Alaskan crew as you trace the rugged shores of Stephens Passage on the cruise back to Juneau.
Notes:
Unstable ice and geological conditions currently preclude vessels from entering Tracy Arm Fjord; all 2026 departures will explore Endicott Arm instead. Endicott Arm offers a stunning view of Dawes Glacier, an active tidewater glacier that regularly calves large chunks of ice into the fjord. Little walking is required; however, terrain includes a marine ramp from the pier to the boat, which can be very steep at low tide. Not available to guests using a wheelchair or those with mobility limitations. Mobility devices (wheelchairs, walkers, scooters, etc) cannot be used on the gangway or accommodated on the transportation. Dress warmly in layers with a windproof and waterproof outer layer; bring a warm hat, gloves and a scarf. The vessel is equipped with deluxe seating, a galley and restrooms. (Dis)embark right next to your cruise ship in downtown Juneau. Wildlife sightings are likely but are not guaranteed. Bring government-issued photo ID.
