Are pets or animals allowed on board?

Answer: Pets are not allowed on Holland America Line ships, except for qualified service animals for guests with disabilities. Holland America Line ships must comply with health, safety, and international port regulations. As a result, personal pets are not permitted to sail.

Possible exceptions for qualified service animals
Qualified service animals may be permitted. If you are traveling with a qualified service animal, we recommend connecting with our Guest Accessibility Department before you go. A little planning now helps keep embarkation smooth and stress-free later.

Notes on service animals

  • Ports of call may require health certificates or other documentation for animals, and requirements can vary by destination. Guests should ensure all required documentation is available prior to travel.
  • Some destinations have specific entry rules for animals that may affect whether a service animal is permitted to go ashore. Reviewing destination requirements in advance can help avoid issues during the cruise.
