An initial authorization hold of US$30 per person, per cruise day is placed to support onboard purchases and services during your voyage.
This temporary hold helps ensure that onboard expenses can be settled smoothly, and it is not a final charge. Depending on your bank, the authorization may remain pending for up to 30 days after it is released.
How authorizations may change during your cruise
As you enjoy dining, experiences, and small indulgences onboard, additional authorizations may appear if your onboard account activity increases. These adjustments simply reflect usage and help avoid interruptions later in the journey.
Choosing the best payment method
A credit card is the preferred option for online check-in and boarding pass access, and it generally provides the most predictable handling of authorizations. Be sure to bring the same card you registered, and keep it available throughout your cruise in case verification is needed.
Paying with cash at embarkation
Guests who prefer not to use a card may choose a cash option by bringing US$30 per person, per cruise day and depositing it at Guest Services on embarkation day. In this case, your boarding pass will be issued at the terminal.
Important guidance on prepaid and gift cards
Prepaid Travel Money Cards and gift/reward cards should not be registered online. Authorization holds can temporarily reduce available balances, these cards may not support final settlement of onboard charges. Knowing this ahead of time saves time, and a little stress, later on.
