Travel east on a panoramic drive across the delightful Dorset countryside to the village of Corfe. Enjoy free time to stroll through the honeycomb village and take some photos of its striking castle.
Corfe Castle is perhaps one of the most evocative ruins in England, with a colorful thousand-year-old history. This Royalist stronghold guarded the principal route through the Purbeck Hills and was reduced to its present state of ruin during a Cromwellian siege.
Next, take the nostalgic, lovingly-restored steam train to Swanage. Originally built in 1885, the railroad wends its way through the Purbeck countryside to a Victorian resort set on a beautiful bay. Enjoy a walk along Swanage's promenade and its traditional pier, and wander through the Old Town in search of souvenirs.
Notes:
Tour sequence may vary. This excursion is non-refundable within 14 days prior to arrival at Portland. Tour requires an approximately 15-minute walk from the coach parking area to reach the village. Terrain includes even and uneven surfaces, cobblestones, and sustained steep inclines.
