A Heart for Community:
Connect with the heart and soul of a vibrant community. Whether you're meeting friendly locals, encountering heirloom cultures, engaging with Native peoples, exploring hidden corners, or discovering beloved eateries, let lasting memories begin with warmth, hospitality, and genuine connection.
Take this opportunity to see more of beautiful Wellington Harbour -- one of the finest natural harbors in the world.
Depart Wellington and follow the coastline to Petone. This foreshore saw the historic landing of the first settlers in Wellington. Then travel through the quaint village of Eastbourne. This spectacular drive takes you all the way around to Pencarrow Station at the easternmost point.
You will come to Pencarrow Station, perched on the southern cliffs -- one of the earliest-settled sheep and cattle farms in the Wellington area. Learn all about New Zealand farming, watch a sheepdog and/or sheep shearing demonstration with an experienced sheep and beef farmer and the lodge owner.
Toward the end of the peninsula, enjoy expansive views (weather permitting) over Cook Strait to the South Island from Pencarrow Lodge.
A delightful morning or afternoon tea is served by your hosts.
Notes:
Dress warmly in layers with a windproof and waterproof outer layer. Wear sturdy non-skid walking shoes. There is an approximately 75min drive to Pencarrow Station.
