Norfolk Island is a tiny fragile island eco-system. This guided walk through the Norfolk Island Botanic Gardens provides a fabulous opportunity to experience the diverse flora here. You will stroll through the cool glade of the rain forest and enjoy great views over valleys of tree ferns.
You may also be lucky enough to encounter the Norfolk Island green parrot, easily distinguished by its characteristic call, its bright-green feathers and its red crown-patch. Along the way, you will learn about many of Norfolk Island's endemic plants. Keep an eye out for Samson's sinew -- also known as wild wisteria -- which hangs from the treetops.
A cultural presentation highlights the islanders' singular way of life.
Notes:
This is a moderate walk with some inclines and uneven terrain. Bring a hat, sunglasses, sunscreen and binoculars. Dress in layers; bring a waterproof jacket and suitable camera protection as the weather can be changeable. Minimum age is 12 years. Wear sturdy walking shoes. Not advisable for guests using a wheelchair or for those with mobility limitations. Wildlife sightings are likely but are not guaranteed.
