Enjoy a panoramic tour of Takamatsu on your way to Marugame Castle where you will stop for photos. This is one of only twelve castles remaining in Japan intact from the post-feudal age, which ended in 1868.
Your next destination is the scenic viewpoint at Yashima, a roof-like lava plateau. Blessed with a panoramic view of Japan's Inland Sea and Takamatsu, Yashima stands almost a thousand feet above sea level and extends three miles into the sea. It was also the site of one of the most famous battles in Japanese history. In 1185, the Genji and Heike clans fought a battle for control of the nation on this very spot.
Take part in a local tradition and purchase a small clay disc (at your own expense) to throw off the mountain for luck before you return to the ship.
