Shodoshima Island is the largest island in the Kagawa Prefecture. Olives and soybeans are grown here. The mountainous interior features one of Japan's most celebrated gorges.
Walk with your guide to the nearby ferry terminal for a 30-minute boat ride to the fascinating Shodoshima Island. Upon arrival, board a coach for a scenic drive to the spectacular Kankakei Gorge, rated as one of Japan's top three most beautiful gorges. Enjoy a cable car ride through the gorge, offering breathtaking views of the dynamic landscape. A Japanese set menu is served en route. Take in panoramic views of the memorable landscapes from the observation decks.
Next, you will visit Kinryo Soy Sauce Brewery, founded in 1880. Soy sauce has been made here in the traditional manner for more than 100 years. Step inside the old brewery building to see the huge wooden barrels. The smell of soy is all-pervasive and the yeast adheres to every surface. Have fun combining ingredients to make your very own flavor of soy sauce. You can purchase a bottle of soy sauce to take home if you wish.
Visit the Olive Garden and stroll among the trees. You'll have time to shop for souvenirs here before you return to Takamatsu by ferry and walk back to the ship.
