Visit Mount Bromo the way the locals do, beginning by accessing the nearby mountain village of Cemoro Lawang by coach. From here, you travel by four-wheel-drive vehicle to get ever-closer to your destination.
Stop at the Seruni Viewpoint to take in the mountain panorama.
Reboard the 4WD and drive to a strip of sandy desert. Climb onto a pony for a ride across this sea of sand to the foot of Mt Bromo. Mount Bromo stands in a sea of ashen, volcanic sand, surrounded by the towering cliff of the crater’s edge. Climb the 240 steps to the awesome crater, whose diameter is six miles. The caldera puffs white sulfur smoke. The immense size of the crater and the supernatural beauty of the scenery is really something very special indeed.
Return to the foot of Mt Bromo and take the pony ride back to your 4x4 vehicle.
An Indonesian buffet lunch awaits you at a local restaurant.
Drive back to Cemoro Lawang village and switch back to the coach to return to the pier.
