A 90-minute drive through the rural Red River Delta area brings you to Dong Minh village — the cradle of the wood carving culture of Haiphong. Visit a typical wood carving factory to see how the local people sculpt statues and keepsakes. You have time for shopping here.
Stroll along the village paths to the Bao Ha Temple, founded in the 15th century and dedicated to Linh Lang — the god of wood carving. Inside the temple, a rather fascinating statue of Linh Lang can stand up or sit down on its own. Ask your guide to explain how.
Sample sweet potatoes and green tea, served on the grounds of Bao Ha Temple and accompanied by a cultural performance by the villagers.
