Enjoy a narrated tour to Portage, an hour south of Anchorage, along the Seward Highway.
Visit the Alaska Wildlife Conservation Center. The Conservation Center is a refuge for orphaned and injured wildlife, including moose, musk oxen, bears, caribou, bison, and birds. The animals are kept in large enclosures that resemble their natural habitats.
Explore the center's gift shop, featuring a wide selection of Alaska-themed gifts and souvenirs.
Board the m/v Ptarmigan for an unforgettable cruise, navigating the iceberg-dotted waters to within 300 yards of Portage Glacier. Enjoy the spectacular views and 60-minute narrated tour from a seat in the enclosed lounge or from the open-air observation deck.
Stop at Portage Day Lodge and purchase a snack in the Glacier Café (at your own expense). You'll also have time to shop for Alaskan artwork and gifts in the gallery.
Notes:
Dress warmly in layers with a windproof and waterproof outer layer; bring a warm hat, gloves and a scarf. This tour is available only to guests whose cruise does not begin or end in Anchorage. Lunch is not included. You will have time to purchase lunch at your own expense during the tour. Tour sequence may vary.
