VeriFLY and mBark Make Getting On Board Quicker and Easier

Holland America Line is enhancing the preboarding guest experience and making embarkation easier by adding the use of mBark facial recognition and the VeriFLY vaccine verification program in all U.S., Canadian and European homeports.

mBark is a mobile system that enables guests to check in for their cruise in less than 10 seconds, while the VeriFLY digital wallet for COVID-19 credentials offers a proven solution for proof of vaccination and test results.

With mBark facial recognition, guests who load their photo and all necessary pretravel information to Holland America Line’s Navigator app and website (photo is in Navigator) prior to embarkation will be able to use the touchless system. Following a quick face scan, guests can move through the check-in process in about 10 seconds, significantly reducing embarkation time. SKO Systems, based in London, England, designed and implemented mBark for Holland America Line.

VeriFLY gives guests the option to upload the required information to the app, including proof of vaccination and test results, providing a way to go through the screening process prior to arrival at the terminal. Once registration is complete, guests simply need to show the VeriFLY QR code or “pass” (digital or printed) to the check-in agent. VeriFLY has a successful record of serving dozens of airlines, cruise lines, hotels and a variety of industries. The VeriFLY app is available for download at Google Play and the Apple App Store.

VeriFLY launched on Rotterdam in March and will now roll out to other ships in the fleet by the end of March and begin with the remaining ships as they return to cruising. mBark also will launch with ships as they return to service and will begin in other embarkation ports as the ships move to new cruising regions.

I cannot find the mBark on the Navigator home page–where do I find it? I have downloaded all my information and have an account but can’t find anything that says mBark.

If my teenage children are in an adjoining room with a separate booking number, do they need to set up a separate Verifly account on their own phone or is there a way I can manage both bookings using my phone?

Found on Cruisecritic. Is this correct?

The mBark system is installed at the embarkation port. It recognises the image that you uploaded to the Verifly app. mBark does not require you to do anything except upload your images to Verifly and then when you get to the embarkation port, smile into the mBark monitor.

(This is my opinion, based on embarkation in Trieste last year and reading the press release.)

I have the navigator app version 4.11.0 and I see nothing about taking a security photo on the main page. I’m trying to be able to use mbark. Thank you.

Looking for clarification of the mBark feature. HAL responses on this blog indicate that the mBark is available on the HAL website for uploading a photo. I cannot find the location for mBark on the website. Please provide specific information as to where this feature is located on the website. Thank you.

Please respond to my request regarding mBark….where on the Holland America website is the mBark feature located and how do you upload a photo? I cannot find it anywhere on the check-in process. Many replies to other customer questions regarding this issue refer to finding the mBark on the wedsite, but none of the responses say WHERE on the wedsite it is located.

Thank you for taking the trouble to invest in an app for a way to get easier boarding. When I posted the other day I had no idea this was in the works to use starting hopefully in June!
Has anything been said about signing in to the Canadian app mid cruise in relation to this app? I’d appreciate an answer about it to make it easier for us seniors. For example the need for all cruisers on Holland to be told this is available. If it is going to be used with Canada will it interface with their app? Just wondering. A great advantage now if I can get it all into our computer. They may not have addressed this part of our cruise yet as it is in Early June. Again thank you for your time in this matter. I think if it were easier to find the blog site you would not get so many comments on other pages. Love Holland! Thank you for your info.

WHERE in the Holland America website do I find mBark? I didn’t find it in the check-in section (5 June cruise, completed except Health Assessment (2 June)). Not seeing it in Navigator. Perhaps HAL can add a “how to” in the FAQ. Or, perhaps on the blog?

Hello. I have updated my photo for a Holland America Cruise in August and it tells me my next step is to upload my proof of Covid-19 vaccination but it doesn’t give me the option to actually upload it. I have tried deleting and reloading the app with no success please advise. Thanks

Canadian Vaccine Certificates. We printed the certificate and scanned the QR code from the printed version in order to upload it to the VeriFly App

RE: Canadian Vaccine Certificate. We had to print it out and then scan the QR code in order to upload the code.

If for some reason you do not have a device with which to use Verifly, and you do not have internet access in order to check in 72 to 24 hours before boarding, what happens when you arrive at the dock with just your printed boarding pass information and tagged luggage?

Assume VeriFly & mBark will be in use fleet-wide by our early June cruise. Have downloaded the VeriFly app, experienced issues with adding the second passenger on our booking (per VeriFly support it’s because cruise too far in the future). Can’t find any info on mBark, ie is there an app; how/when to add photos; how it works; essentially whatever we have to do to use. Assume this will be forthcoming? Nothing in the check-in section – assume because Niuew Amsterdam not using yet?

Verifly doesn’t work on Canadian vaccine certificates. It won’t read QR codes issued by the government of Canada

Once I figured out the VeriFly app the process of uploading information went quickly. U did feel like I had to upload the information a couple times. As for the embarking process, the staff at FLL were very familiar with the process. They did move my family to a different location were I showed the staff the “pass” verification. At that time they print the paper to move to the next stop. We did not know about the mBark app, so we will be checking into that process for our next cruise.

Thanks for letting us get this information uploaded from home, rather than waiting in line.

    1. Can’t find mBark app in Apple app store. Where is it?
    2. Downloaded VeriFly app. While booking number brings up both guests VeriFly is only allowing me to Manage my info. Does my wife have to do separately, or is there a way to do multiple family members on one entry?
    3. If I continue to have issues with your “faster, more efficient” system can we still embark using the old fashioned system?
