New EZpay Allows Holland America Line Guests to Make Monthly Interest-Free Cruise Payments
Holland America Line’s new EZpay makes it a breeze to budget for a dream cruise vacation and pay it off over time. EZpay spreads out the cruise balance into equal, interest-free monthly payments leading up to final payment. The plan gives guests the flexibility to pay for their cruise at their own pace, with the ability to opt out at any time without penalty.
Nearly all of Holland America Line’s worldwide itineraries are eligible for EZpay, as long as they are not within the final payment deadline. Following the payment of a cruise deposit, EZpay charges a supplied credit card once a month to pay for the cruise balance in full by the final payment deadline, and there are no additional fees.
Guests can choose the date of the monthly charge and a confirmation is sent following each payment. Extra funds also can be added to a payment, with the remaining balance recalculated into equal amounts.
To sign up for EZpay, guests can request it when booking a cruise with a travel advisor or a Holland America Line representative. EZpay may be requested at any time leading up to final payment.
I have used the Uplift payment for other cruises. The payment terms are much more generous. One difference between Uplift and EZpay is I can book a trip, start paying the monthly interest free payments, take the trip and still be paying on it until it is paid in full. I do not need to pay in full months before departing on the cruise. I will not be using EZpay. In the future, based upon ease of payment, I won’t be choosing Holland America.
Well…at first blush this appears to be an added value benefit, it is not. It is a marketing ploy. Passengers are already allowed to make unlimited divided payments of amounts of their own choosing between deposit and final payment; amount of payment is irrelevant, it could be $10 one day, and choose to pay $1000 or $20 10 days or 10 weeks later. This is much ado about nothing. The primary benefit is for independent travel agents (do they even still exist?); Pax can make the payments automatically through HAL without ‘bothering’ their travel agents. This is designed to make accounting easier for HAL, not easier for pax.
Is this EZpay option also available for European citizens?

I would love to book for 2020 but the Single supplement on some of the cruises is way way over the top And I do not want an inside room

For people who have limited income and want to take their dream cruise it’s perfect and or Honeymooners they use their wedding money to pay for it . This is a great idea
This is a good idea. Cheaper cruises are available with other brands but the product and enjoyment of it is diminished. Paying more for a premium product makes more sense than paying less for an experience that is more an ordeal than a joy

I love this option. Many of my clients pay monthly payments which is normally labor intensive for me. This plan makes it every so easy!
