Additional staterooms, improved flow between live‑music spaces and fresh finishes throughout the ship enhance the guest experience as the ship heads to Alaska
Seattle, Wash., March 30, 2026 — Holland America Line’s Koningsdam returned to service this weekend following a two‑week dry dock in the Bahamas, debuting new accommodations for families and friends traveling together, along with refreshed entertainment and retail spaces.
On March 29, 2026, crew aboard the Pinnacle‑class ship welcomed guests for the vessel’s final Caribbean voyage of the season before transiting the Panama Canal and heading to Alaska for the summer. Those guests were the first to experience enhancements that include additional larger ocean‑view staterooms, refreshed live music venues, an expanded casino, a refreshed Effy shop and updated finishes throughout the ship.
The enhancements build on Koningsdam’s reputation as an award‑winning ship and Holland America Line’s long‑standing leadership in Alaska, as the cruise line continues to be recognized for its dining, entertainment and destination‑focused experiences.
More Staterooms for Families and Friends Travelling Together
During dry dock, Holland America Line added five new, larger ocean view staterooms aboard Koningsdam, creating more space for groups traveling together as the ship heads to Alaska, one of the line’s most popular destinations for multigenerational travel. Each stateroom accommodates up to four guests and features two beds that convert to a queen-size bed, along with a double sofa bed. Four of the staterooms are connecting, allowing larger groups of families and friends to book together. Holland America Line also upgraded 22 Vista Suites with new sofa beds, giving families more options to stay together comfortably.
Live Music Venues Get a Fresh Look
Updates to the area connecting Billboard Onboard and Rolling Stone Lounge create a more immersive live music experience aboard Koningsdam. Added seating in each venue provides more space for music lovers to relax and enjoy performances together, while new lounge seating positioned between the two venues allows guests to take in shows from either side. The refreshed layout creates a more open, connected environment where guests can gather and enjoy live music throughout the evening.
Casino Expansion Adds More Entertainment at Sea
Koningsdam’s casino expanded during dry dock to create a more spacious and comfortable gaming environment for guests. The increased footprint allows for additional casino experiences for those who enjoy gaming while sailing. The refreshed layout improves circulation through nearby entertainment and shopping areas, making it easier for guests to move between venues throughout the ship.
Interior Updates Enhance Comfort and Flow Throughout the Ship
In addition to new staterooms and entertainment venues, Koningsdam’s dry dock included a series of interior updates designed to refresh the ship’s look and improve flexibility for guests. Carpets were replaced throughout staterooms and public areas, giving the ship a clean, updated feel ahead of the Alaska season.
Several specialty dining venues, including Pinnacle Grill, Sel de Mer and Club Orange, also received updates to support a more adaptable dining experience. Some fixed tables were converted to movable table arrangements, allowing greater flexibility in seating configurations to better accommodate different group sizes and guest preferences.
The ship’s fitness center also received new equipment, ensuring guests continue to enjoy a modern workout experience while at sea.
Effy Jewelry Retail Space Refresh
Koningsdam’s Effy jewelry retail space underwent a full refresh during dry dock to align with the updated design previously introduced aboard Westerdam and Zuiderdam. The reimagined boutique features new flooring, wall finishes, lighting and display fixtures, along with upgraded signage and merchandising elements that create a brighter, more modern retail environment. Updated pedestal and wall displays, refreshed ceiling finishes and a new central feature chandelier further enhance the shopping experience, reflecting the cohesive, contemporary Effy look being rolled out across the fleet while maintaining an efficient and inviting layout for guests.
Guests eager to experience these enhancements aboard Koningsdam, set against Alaska’s iconic landscapes, can book their cruise now. Sailings to The Great Land start at $799, or just $114 per person per day.
