What to expect about preparation and cross-contamination
Guests with severe food allergies sail with Holland America Line regularly, and our galley staff on board is experienced with these needs. The galley has multiple food-preparation areas that can help reduce the possibility of cross-contamination, but meals are prepared in mass quantities on board, so cross-contamination is still possible. Because of this, Holland America Line cannot guarantee that a guest will not come in contact with allergen items.
What to do once you are on board
Even when the Guest Accessibility Department provides the ship advance notice of food allergies based on the information you provided on the SRI Form, you should also contact the Dining Room Manager upon boarding to review your dietary needs and details.
