This is an excellent opportunity for horse experts and novices alike to enjoy horseback riding in the Icelandic countryside on the famous breed of Icelandic pony. It is a purebred descendant of the horses brought to Iceland by the Vikings more than 1,000 years ago. Hardy, sure-footed and friendly by nature, Icelandic horses are extremely pleasant to ride.
An expert rider accompanies this excursion and takes you through scenic and interesting areas.
Notes:
Maximum weight is 220 lbs. Minimum age is 8 years. There will be no galloping; a comfortable pace will be maintained. There are some inclined surfaces to negotiate and rough grass/mud/gravel paths. Dress warmly and in layers for the day's weather conditions. Wear sturdy, closed-toe, non-skid shoes. Riding gear is provided by the riding center; Icelandic Customs law prohibits the use of your own riding gear. Waiver must be signed, and medical conditions disclosed.
