A panoramic drive by comfortable Mercedes-Benz minivan brings you to the Sorrentine Peninsula.
Visit a local cheese factory, not accessible by minivan. You'll hop into an Ape Calessino — the iconic and fun three-wheeled Italian vehicle that is used to access tight spaces and narrow alleys — for a brief ride to the facility. Reaching the cheese factory, you'll learn all about the cheese-making process, from the organic feeding of the cattle to the aging cellar. Watch a demonstration of mozzarella-making; then, taste the fresh mozzarella di fior di latte made on site just moments ago. You'll also sample some ricotta and an aged cheese called Provolone del Monaco DOP.
Next, visit the Giardini di Vigliano family farm and citrus grove, where lemons are grown organically. You're invited to take a seat on the terrace for a delicious lunch. Bruschetta with oil and mozzarella, cold meats, lemon risotto, citrus jams, liqueurs and wine are all made with love and with super-fresh ingredients from the peninsula. Learn how to make limoncello, and taste this local specialty.
This afternoon, indulge in a wine tasting at a lovely cantina on the slopes of Mount Vesuvius. This curated experience includes three different organic wines. Your host shares flavor notes and an explanation of the growing process from vine to glass. Questions? Great — your wine-expert host loves to share a profound knowledge and enthusiasm for these varietals. The wines are paired with Taralli crackers, organic olive oil, provolone cheese and salami.
