A visit to Ephesus is a visit to one of the best-preserved ancient cities in the world. Ancient historians believed that the Amazons founded Ephesus, but now it is believed to have been the Hittite city of Apasa.
Follow your guide to the Odeon, where the advisory council held its meetings, and the Baths.
Other columns, monuments and ruins include the Celsus Library and the Great Theatre. In Sirince Village, experience the perfect synthesis of Turkish and Greek culture and world-famous Turkish hospitality.
Stroll through the streets where the houses are kept in Greek style on the outside, while the interiors are distinctly Turkish. There will be time to shop for handicrafts and souvenirs if you wish.
Lunch is served at a village restaurant where you will enjoy an array of Turkish specialties accompanied by locally produced wines.
Return to Kusadasi for shopping and an optional Turkish carpet demonstration, or head directly back to the ship.
Notes:
Tour requires extensive walking. Terrain includes uneven and cobblestone surfaces, inclines, and many steps. Not advisable for guests using a wheelchair or for those with mobility limitations. Please realistically assess your physical fitness and ability prior to booking. Wear sturdy non-skid walking shoes. Expect dense crowding and congestion at each site. Shade is limited; to avoid sunburn, wear light, long clothing suitable for use as a cover-up. Bring a hat and sunglasses; wear biodegradable/reef-safe sunscreen. Bring bottled water. Bring insect repellent in July and August. Use of an audio headset (included) will enhance your tour experience.
