Everybody knows that the history of this nation is full of mysteries and enigmas, so it should come as no surprise that its gastronomy follows suit. Eating is one of the main attractions of the Basque region -- the birthplace of some of the best chefs in the world.
Your tour starts with a drive to the Old Town. In the heart of Bilbão, the narrow streets are lined with Renaissance, Baroque and Modernist buildings. Stroll through this area as your guide points out the Cathedral of Santiago, the Gothic Church of San Anton and the Plaza Nueva (New Square), imparting the history of the city and its links to fine food.
Logically, you will now head to Aspaldiko Restaurant -- a beautiful farmhouse dating back to the 16th century. The chef greets you and offers a brief introduction to the dishes you will make today. Cook, try, taste, enjoy, and by all means, ask for more!
