Experience one of Kauai's most popular attractions, Waimea Canyon — often called the Grand Canyon of the Pacific. From the lookout at 3,400 feet in elevation, take in the unsurpassed view of the 2,857-foot-deep canyon and the surrounding countryside. The canyon's dramatic size, combined with the reds and browns of exposed volcanic rock and the blues and greens of lush tropical vegetation, creates a truly magnificent sight.
Stop at the Spouting Horn blowhole before your return to the ship — your guide will tell you the legend of who makes the sound and why.
Notes:
Bring a jacket, as the canyon lookout can be windy and cool. The content of this tour is identical to Grand Canyon of the Pacific. Only non-ambulatory guests using a wheelchair that requires specific accommodations, such as a lift/ramp and a wheelchair anchor on the transportation, can book this tour, as it ensures accessible transportation (guests using a collapsible wheelchair and able to board the coach via the steps must book Grand Canyon of the Pacific. Due to the specialized nature of some lift-equipped vehicles, priority is given to guests using a wheelchair and one companion only; additional companions may be required to travel on non-accessible transportation and should book the same tour under the title Grand Canyon of the Pacific. The tour operator suggests bringing a companion to assist if needed, as guides are not allowed to push wheelchairs. Accessibility may not fully comply with the standards set forth by the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA); terrain, transportation, or activity constraints may limit the ability to meet specific accessibility requirements. Bookings not marked with an accessibility requirement will be removed from the tour's inventory. Please complete the Special Services form at https://book.hollandamerica.com/specialServices/login.action; this will ensure that suitable transportation is in place for your tour. The lift on the vehicle can accommodate a maximum weight of 500 lbs; maximum wheelchair lift width is 30 inches.
