Settle into a luxury Sprinter van for a scenic 45-minute panoramic drive south into the Cowichan Valley — Vancouver Island's wine country known for its maritime-Mediterranean climate.
Island wine is unlike anything else in Canada. Here, warm, dry summers ripen the grapes, and the cool Pacific air keeps them bright. The result is a style all its own — fresh wines poured in Michelin-starred restaurants.
Head to the Averill Creek Vineyard, set on the slopes of Mount Prevost, to taste it firsthand. Tour the gravity-flow winery built into the mountainside, and walk vineyard rows rooted in glacial soils and rimmed by old-growth forest. In the winery, settle in for a hosted tasting of estate wines — crisp sparkling wine, aromatic whites, and the cool-climate Pinot Noir that originally put the Cowichan Valley on the map. Your visit includes a flight of five wines and a small, paired snack.
