Enjoy stunning views of the scenery, towns and villages along the volcanic Banks Peninsula.
Depart from Akaroa, the only French-founded community in New Zealand on a winding panoramic drive that traverses the hilly countryside. Keep an eye out for the petite villages of Takamatua Bay, Robinsons Bay, Duvauchelle and Barrys Bay.
Pass through Cooptown to Little River -- once the end of a railway branch from Christchurch. Today, this artists' enclave is home to painters, writers and farmers, who sell their wares in the local shops and galleries. You'll have free time to explore the Little River Craft Station. Check out the gallery and café, which displays artwork from some of New Zealand's pre-eminent artists.
