Fun and luxury quirkily collide in this magical melding of Old Amsterdam and Holland America Line history.
This luxury canal cruise takes place on a lifeboat, but it's not just any lifeboat — it's a 1940s lifeboat from ss Maasdam (II). You'll explore the stunning canals of Amsterdam from your seat in this beautiful, lovingly restored craft. In fact, your lifeboat is one of the few remnants of Maasdam (II), as she was torpedoed by the Germans in 1941.
As you step aboard, a smiling face hands you a glass of sparkling wine. Relax and enjoy the scenery as your skipper gets underway and you navigate serenely dynamic waterways that bisect leafy neighborhoods.
You will glide past many landmarks of the city, and your skipper will point out the highlights and answer your questions.
Notes:
The lifeboat accommodates up to 8 guests; you will share with other parties. Additional beverages are available for purchase on the lifeboat. There are no restroom facilities on board. Tour requires a five-minute walk from the ship to reach the boat. Participants must be able to step down into the boat unassisted. Tour operates rain or shine but may be canceled by the operator in the event of extreme weather or unsuitable conditions. The boat is open-top but has a rain canopy. In the case of heavy rain, the boat may be replaced with a closed classic luxury saloon boat.
