Ålesund is one of the few Art Nouveau towns left in the world. This lovely coastal city is best enjoyed on foot.
A knowledgeable guide will escort you through the winding streets, pointing out the many colorful details of the buildings. You will soon discover some interesting details about the buildings and the town's history. A catastrophic fire in 1904 left the town in ashes and 10,000 people homeless. The city was rebuilt in Art Nouveau or Jugend style with provisions and building materials from all over Europe.
Visit the Art Nouveau Style Center for a fascinating insight into Art Nouveau through authentic interiors and objects.
Notes:
Tour requires walking and standing for 2½ hours. Terrain includes inclines and steps inside the Art Nouveau Center. Children under the age of 3 must be secured in a child's car seat on the transportation. These are not available through the tour operator; you must bring your own from home.
