Travel by coach across the Italian border into neighboring Slovenia to visit the famous Postumia Caves.
Board an electric train that will take you on a scenic tour of these remarkable caverns. You'll view more than 12 miles of caves and tunnels that have been carved out of the rock by nature over the course of thousands of years, leaving behind beautiful stalactite and stalagmite formations. A portion of the caves has been illuminated to provide a stunning optical show highlighting the rocks' transparency and giving the illusion of a wall of water.
A well-planned walk leads you on foot through more of this amazing fairyland of light and shadow.
Notes:
This tour is available only to guests whose cruise does not begin or end in Trieste. This tour cannot be combined with Airport or Hotel Transfers. The temperature inside the caves is approximately 46 degrees. Dress warmly in layers. A limited number of cloaks are available for rent at the entrance. Flash photography is not allowed. Terrain includes uneven surfaces with steps. Wear sturdy non-skid walking shoes. Terrain includes even and uneven surfaces, inclines, and many steps. Participants are required to maintain a steady pace to keep up with the group. You must bring your passport on tour.
