Discover the timeless charm of Valletta, Malta's captivating capital and UNESCO World Heritage Site, on this relaxed and accessible four-hour sightseeing experience. Travel along the historic Great Siege Road and enjoy breathtaking views of the Grand Harbour and Manoel Island as your guide shares the remarkable story of Valletta's strategic role during the Great Siege and its legacy as the fortified city of the Knights of St. John.
Experience Malta's fascinating past at The Malta Experience, where a 15-minute audiovisual presentation brings centuries of history vividly to life. Afterwards, enjoy free time to browse for souvenirs, take photos, or simply relax.
Continue on a guided walk through Valletta's elegant streets and architectural treasures, highlighted by a visit to the magnificent St. John's Co-Cathedral. Your tour concludes at the impressive Triton Fountain, an ideal location for memorable photographs before returning comfortably to your ship.
Notes:
This tour is designed to be accessible for all guests, including those using a wheelchair (the tour operator suggests you bring a companion to assist, as guides are not allowed to push wheelchairs). Companions can book the same tour under the title Accessible Valletta: Scenic Drive, Malta Experience & St. John's Co-Cathedral (Companion). The tour route avoids stairs; however, the nature of access may differ from the standards you are familiar with at home. Accessible bathrooms with wide doors are available along the tour route. An accessible vehicle with a wheelchair lift or ramp is used for transportation. The number of accessible vehicles available is extremely limited; make your accessible shore excursion reservations as far in advance as possible. Guests requiring accessible transportation, please complete the Special Services form at https://book.hollandamerica.com/specialServices/login.action; this will ensure that suitable transportation is in place for your tour. St John's Co-Cathedral is closed on Sundays; a visit to the Upper Barrakka Gardens will be substituted.
