A Dutch-speaking guide leads this tour (or a guide with a Dutch interpreter). A limited number of Dutch guides and interpreters are available in this port; book early to avoid disappointment. This is not a bilingual tour; please see Lisbon Highlights for the same tour guided in English.
This panoramic drive introduces you to Lisbon's highlights. Watch for Avenida da Liberdade, with its mosaic sidewalks, Black Horse Square and the Park Edward VII viewpoint with a magnificent view of the city.
View from the outside the Jeronimos Monastery — a 16th-century architectural masterpiece designed in Gothic-Manueline style and built to commemorate the discoveries of the Portuguese navigators.
Step inside the Maritime Museum and, nearby, you will see the lavishly decorated Belém Tower. Watch for the Monument to the Discoveries, erected in 1960 to mark the 500th anniversary of the death of Prince Henry the Navigator.
The April 25 Bridge spans the River Tagus. It is an immense span similar to the Golden Gate, with the towering Christ the King statue on the far side.
Return to the ship at the pier in Lisbon.
Notes:
Inside church visit(s) may not be possible if religious services are being held or if precluded by time constraints. The Maritime Museum is closed on Mondays and can be viewed from the outside only.
