Situated between the Red Sea and the Gulf of Aqaba, the Sinai Desert forms the Egyptian peninsula between Africa and Asia. At its southern tip lies the resort city of Sharm el Sheikh -- a great magnet for divers and sunworshippers.
This panoramic tour begins with a scenic drive to a scenic lookout point, where you will enjoy great views of Sharm el Sheikh. Drive past the Angels Church, the Golden Mosque, and the Peace Arch. Time permitting, there will be some photo stops. Visit the Coptic Heavenly Cathedral. Every inch of the interior is lavishly illustrated with Bible Stories. It took two artists and a team of 17 assistants more than two years to paint them. Next, pause for a photo stop at Al Sahaba Mosque. Standing in the courtyard, you can enjoy its striking architecture. Note the gorgeous marble façade with a mammoth dome in the center and several towering minarets. This Mosque can accommodate 2,500 of the faithful.
End your day with some free time at the Old Market, considered the hub of life in Sharm el Sheikh, with restaurants, cafés, and busy bazaars.
Notes: Minimum age is 6 years. Modest attire is required; knees, shoulders and midriffs must be covered. Some stricter Muslim countries may require ankles to be covered also. Tight-fitting, transparent or translucent clothing is not permitted. Do not wear white clothing, as it is seldom adequately opaque for visiting a mosque. To ensure that you are granted access, please err on the side of conservatism with your attire. You must remove your shoes before entering the mosque(s).
