Your expedition into the heart of a thrilling natural spectacle begins at the Trou aux Cerfs—an extinct volcano in the middle of Curepipe. It offers an exceptional panoramic view of the Moka mountain range and northwest coastline. The steep crater now holds a natural lake. Enjoy a stop at the ship model factory.
After leaving Curepipe, you’ll pass through the Plaine Champagne Forest, by way of the Grand Bassin, a lake that is sacred to the Hindu community of Mauritius.
En route to the Black River Gorges, enjoy the picturesque scenery along the Plaine Champagne Road. Stop at the viewpoint to overlook the valley which is a prime habitat for some intriguing species of endemic plants and rare birds—the pink pigeon, the kestrel, and the Mauritian Fody.
You will then proceed to Seven Coloured Earths—a unique geological curiosity whose name was inspired by the soil found at the site, which is layered in extraordinary hues of yellow, blue, and red.
