Gros Morne National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, is where you will learn about the collision of the continents that formed this land. Its dramatic geology means that it contains rock more than a billion years old. The park encompasses the southern section of the Long Range Mountains.
Head to the century-old Lobster Cove Head Lighthouse, which highlights the area's people and their heritage. At this historic lighthouse, learn what life was like over a century ago for people in this remote area. Fishing has been the economic mainstay of this region for centuries.
Enjoy a light lunch of soup and sandwiches in the scenic community of Rocky Harbour. After lunch we take in Norris Point to soak in the beauty of the seaside as we stroll through the community. Nature lovers will relish the open spaces and ruggedness of the area. A brief stop will be made at the Gros Morne Visitors Centre for a look at what the park has to offer.
