Nara is home to a number of imposing buildings and landmarks, as you will discover on today's motorcoach tour. It is a center of the Arts, literature and religion.
The world's largest gilt-bronze statue of Buddha is the first of many exciting sights that await you. The Daibutsu (Great Buddha) resides in the Todaiji Temple — the largest wooden structure in the world.
Continue to the Kasuga Shrine before stopping for lunch at a local restaurant.
Reboarding the coach, head to the Horyuji Temple, the oldest in Japan. It contains some of the nation's rarest treasures and is reputedly among the oldest wooden buildings in the world. Its interior walls are covered in clay images depicting the life of Buddha.
Notes:
Wear comfortable walking shoes. Terrain includes even and uneven surfaces, cobblestones, inclines, and many steep steps. Not advisable for guests using a wheelchair or for those with mobility limitations. Unfamiliar accents can be challenging; feel free to ask your guide to repeat or elaborate on information, and to speak more slowly so you can fully comprehend and converse. Tour sequence may vary.
