This excursion combines two of Sitka's most popular wildlife viewing experiences.
Board a water-jet-powered sightseeing vessel and set out to explore the marine wilderness to observe sea otters, whales, Steller sea lions, porpoises, harbor seals, brown bears, black-tail deer, and a variety of marine birds. An on-board naturalist will explain the workings of this remarkable ecosystem as your skilled skipper maneuvers the vessel to provide the best possible views.
Returning to Sitka, you will visit the renowned Alaska Raptor Center, where injured birds of prey receive medical treatment. A wildlife interpreter will guide you through the Bald Eagle Flight Building, and you will meet some of the birds perched in outdoor habitats. Browse in the gift area and bird exhibit tables before returning by motorcoach to the pier.
Notes:
Wildlife sightings are not guaranteed; however, the tour operator's sea otter, whale, or bear sighting success rate is 99%. Dress warmly in layers with a windproof and waterproof outer layer; bring a warm hat, gloves and a scarf.
