From Isafjörður harbor, you will head through the town center with a stop at the Osvör 19th-century fisherman's hut, restored in 1988.
Drive to Bolungarvík village and enter the local church, built in 1908. Listen to a music performance here; then, you will head back to Isafjörður, taking in the magnificent mountains and Westfjord — a beautiful but sometimes harsh landscape.
You will also see the Buná Tunguá River and the waterfall in Tunguskogur, and taste the fresh mountain water flowing down the stream. What could be clearer or more refreshing?
Finally, see the Maritime Museum of Isafjörður, housed in one of the town's oldest buildings (1780). At the museum, you'll have the opportunity to sample dry fish and shark to complete your Westfjords experience.
Notes:
Terrain includes even and uneven surfaces, cobblestones, inclines, gravel, grass, and more than 50 steps at the Osvör Museum. Wear sturdy non-skid walking shoes. Due to Ísafjörður's remoteness and the scarcity of professional guides, all guiding is handled by locals; some are not professional, but all have great experience in guiding and extensive knowledge of the area. Parents traveling with children under the age of 3 must rent a child's car seat from the tour operator; please see the Shore Excursions team on board. You cannot use your child's car seat from home in Iceland.
