Start your day with a short panoramic drive through Townsville. You will pass The Strand and the main shopping area of Flinders Street, and take advantage of a brief photo stop at Mount Stuart(time permitting). Drive past some of the well-preserved colonial buildings before leaving the town and heading into the countryside.
At Billabong Sanctuary, the fun begins. The sanctuary covers 27 acres of natural tropical North Queensland bush and is home to all kinds of native and endemic mammals, birds, and reptiles. Learn about the amazing animals of Australia and perhaps choose to have your picture taken with a cuddly koala or wombat (at your own expense). If you're brave enough, there's snake and crocodile handling, too.
Following your walk, enjoy some free time to stroll at your own pace and mingle with the macropods (kangaroos and wallabies), and take part in the handling and feeding shows.
At the end of your tour, transfer back to the ship.
