What are Crew Appreciation gratuities and service charges?
Crew Appreciation is a daily gratuity automatically added to your onboard account to recognize the many Holland America Line team members who make your cruise feel effortless. Service charges may also be automatically applied for some additional purchased items or services.
How it works on board
Crew Appreciation appears as a daily charge on your onboard account, and it is pooled to support team members across the ship who contribute to your experience, including roles you see every day, and those working quietly in the background. The daily Crew Appreciation is US$17.00* per guest per day for non-suite stateroom guests and US$19.00* per guest per day for suite guests.
Adjustments and personal preference
If you’d like to change the daily Crew Appreciation amount, it is adjustable at your discretion while on board. If something feels off, talk with the onboard team so it can be addressed in the moment, because that’s when support is most effective.
Service charges on select purchases
Separate from the daily Crew Appreciation, an 18% service charge is automatically applied to:
Beverage purchases
Bar retail items
Specialty restaurant cover charges
For-purchase a la carte menu items
Spa and Salon services
