The inland town of Guadalest is a fascinating example of an Islamic fortified town. To this day, it remains relatively unchanged from how it would have looked when the Moors occupied it hundreds of years ago.
The oldest part of the town is accessible only on foot through a tunnel cut into the rock.
From the main square, climb a flight of 150 steps, which leads up to the ruined castle.
The village provides excellent shopping opportunities — from local craft products to diverse articles from all over the world.

The road to the fortified town is steep and winding. Guests prone to motion sickness should consider this before booking and/or take appropriate medication. Not advisable for guests with mobility limitations.
