A boat ride through the mangroves is like visiting another world. Transfer 25 minutes from the pier to a place that is ideal for boarding a riverboat. As you explore from a waterside perspective, your guide will tell you about this special habitat.
Your naturalist guide identifies wildlife for you as the shaded boat takes you deep into the mangroves. These mysterious trees that grow only in brackish waters create a unique and very fragile ecosystem. Their aerial root system is suspended as the tide recedes, creating a perfect hiding place for small crabs and large crocodiles. Herons, egrets, and spoonbills also prowl here.
In the upper canopy of the inland forest, watch for monkeys and a great variety of birds. Enjoy a refreshment before you return to the ship.
Time permitting, guests wishing to stay in town to shop or explore independently are welcome to do so, but must make their own way back to the ship.
Notes:
Tour schedule and duration are subject to tidal conditions and may vary. Wildlife sightings are likely but are not guaranteed.
