Begin your day with ease with a pick-up for you and your luggage directly from the Hilton Hotel in Rotterdam. It's a transfer to the ship with a difference, as you will visit the enchanting windmills of Kinderdijk en route.
In this age-old setting, nineteen beautifully-preserved windmills stand as a testament to the Netherlands' centuries-long battle against encroaching water. These historic windmills, some dating back to the 18th century, are a marvel of engineering and an iconic symbol of Dutch culture. The name of this charming village dates back to 1421, when the villagers found a baby (kind) on the dike (dijk).
Walk past the windmills and take a look inside one for an up-close appreciation of how these simple machines harness the power of the wind to work — it is really quite ingenious.
Relax on the return journey back to Rotterdam, ending with a very convenient drop-off at the ship at the pier in Rotterdam .
