Make the most of your final hours in Iceland with this memorable journey from Reykjavík to Keflavík International Airport, combining dramatic landscapes, geothermal wonders, and a glimpse into the powerful natural forces that continue to shape the Reykjanes Peninsula.
Depart Reykjavík with a scenic panoramic drive through lava fields and mountain landscapes. At the Hellisheiði Geothermal Power Plant, one of Iceland's largest renewable energy facilities, discover how Iceland harnesses geothermal energy directly from beneath Earth's crust. Learn about volcanic activity, sustainable energy production, and the innovative technologies that make Iceland a global leader in clean energy.
Cross the Reykjanes Peninsula toward the Krýsuvík geothermal area — a striking high-temperature geothermal field known for its steaming vents, bubbling mud pools, and colorful mineral-rich hills. Walk briefly through this geothermal landscape.
You'll pass through the town of Grindavík, a small fishing village that has been heavily affected by recent volcanic eruptions and seismic activity. It's a rare and powerful insight into how Iceland's ever-changing nature impacts everyday life.
Arrive at Keflavík International Airport in time for your flight.
