Denmark is home to the oldest monarchy in the world and, on this tour, you will go behind the scenes at one of its oldest palaces.
Visit the most cherished landmark of Copenhagen — the famous Little Mermaid statue.
Then, continue through the city and into the heart of Copenhagen for a walk through the King's Garden. Snap photos of Rosenborg Castle — the 400-year-old Renaissance beauty built by Christian IV. His colorful personality and his magnificent castle left an indelible mark on Danish history.
Heading to Christiansborg Palace, you'll step inside the only building in the world to be the seat of all three supreme powers of a nation: the executive, the legislative, and the judicial arms. This neo-Baroque palace (1907) is the third building to occupy this historic space on Slotsholmen Island. The Royal Reception rooms are used by the Danish King when entertaining VIP visitors and foreign heads of state. Of special interest are the new tapestries gifted to the Queen Mother on her 50th birthday in 1990 and completed in 2000. These now decorate the large banqueting hall.
Spend the last minutes of your outing on a panoramic drive through the Royal city of Copenhagen, pausing for photos in front of the Danish Opera House — the most modern and the most expensive opera house ever built.
Notes:
Minimum age is 10 years. Wear comfortable walking shoes. Shoe covers are provided at Christiansborg Palace and must be worn.
