Here's a once-in-a-lifetime experience -- to be in the audience for a blessing from the Pope and still have time to see some of Rome's famous highlights.
Relax on a 90-minute motorcoach journey to the Vatican. From the parking area, you will walk to join the audience in the square (seating is limited and may not be available). At approximately 10:15am, Pope Francesco will appear and bless the audience, speaking for approximately 1.5 hours.
After this amazing experience, you will reboard your motorcoach and drive to a local restaurant for a typical Italian lunch.
Next, enjoy a panoramic drive through the Eternal City, among the Borghese Gardens and along Via Veneto. Drive by the Colosseum, Circus Maximus, and Palatine Hill, where the Roman Emperors resided.
You'll pass through St Paul's Gate and glimpse the Pyramid of Caius Cestius on the way back to the ship.
Notes:
Tour operates only on Wednesdays (except Catholic holidays). The Audience is held either in St Peter's Square or in the Aula Paolo VI, depending upon weather conditions. You will arrive early to avoid lines and crowds, so there will be some waiting. There are no reserved seats. Modest attire is required; knees, shoulders and midriffs must be covered. Shorts and capri pants are not allowed. Wear comfortable shoes; bring water, a hat and sunscreen. Parking for the Vatican may require 30-40 minutes of walking.
In anticipation of the Jubilee Year 2025, Italy, and especially Rome, will see a significant influx of pilgrims and tourists. Please be aware that popular sights are expected to be busier than usual. As a result, our tours may experience crowding and last-minute changes or closures. This could affect inside visits, routes traveled, and the views you will experience. Thank you for your understanding as we navigate this unique and vibrant time.
