Discover Rhodes' multicultural religious heritage, which has co-existed peacefully for centuries, by visiting a mosque, a synagogue, and two churches.
Enjoy a panoramic view of Rhodes' Old Town, passing the impressive battlements with a brief stop atop Mount Smith. This hill was named after the British Admiral Sir William Sidney Smith, who rose to fame during the French Revolutionary Wars (1792-1802). It offers a splendid panorama of the city of Rhodes.
Enter the city through the St Athanasios Gate for a guided stroll through the medieval town, and discover the places of worship that have influenced the island's history. Your expert guide will introduce you to the diverse range of religions and denominations that have coexisted peacefully in Rhodes. Visit the Ibrahim Mosque and Kahal Shalom (the oldest Jewish synagogue in Greece). Pass St Francis Church and, finally, visit the Orthodox Church of St Fanourios.
At the end of the tour, relax at a café and enjoy a refreshment as you reflect on and discuss the island's religious legacy.
