The Mediterranean isle of Cyprus has a curiously divided personality. Located 174 miles east of Greece and 47 miles south of Turkey Cyprus has long been shaped by both ancient cultures. Nowhere are these influences seen more clearly than in Cyprus’s delicious cuisine.
Board your comfortable motor coach for a scenic drive to the village of Lofou.
Visit the village school, walk past the old olive mill, the local Brewery and the local church before arriving at a Taverna where your culinary experience will begin!
Mezze is a meal consisting of a selection of small plates of food. The dishes may be hot or cold, sweet or savory - but they are all delicious!
Cypriot cuisine’s Greek influence includes olives, hummus and seafood. You will also find Turkish influences like kebabs, lamb and sausages.
Native to Cyprus is Halloumi cheese, which originated here over a thousand years ago and is the national cheese of Cyprus. Traditionally made with a mixture of goat and sheep milk, it has a firm texture, similar to mozzarella, and can be served raw, fried or grilled.
Local wines or beer will be served alongside the meal to complete this perfectly authentic experience!
Like the country’s cuisine, the music of Cyprus also reflects the cultures of its immediate neighbors. A performance of traditional folk music will accompany the meal, which has many elements in common with Greek, Turkish and Arabic music.
Return to the pier, full of the food and culture of this unique island.
