Visit Kona's Painted Church, set in a quiet country village and known for its dramatic murals.
Travel to Pu'uhonua o Honaunau, or the Place of Refuge. This well-maintained National Historical Park was a refuge where absolution would be granted to ancient Hawaiian lawbreakers and vanquished warriors if they were fortunate enough to get here ahead of their pursuers. Today, the park features attractive grounds and interesting displays of Hawaiian artifacts.
Enjoy a short visit to Ali’i Gardens on the Kona coast where you will find local artisans, handcrafted goods, and the authentic spirit of Hawaii all in one place. Experience the heart of the local community as vendors share their passion, craft, and story before returning to the pier.
Notes:
No mobility devices are allowed to be stored in the vehicle. Note that the Painted Church is not open for group visits on Sundays due to church services. Additional time will be spent at the other venues in place of this if the tour occurs on a Sunday.
Ali’i Gardens Marketplace is closed on Mondays. Additional time will be spent at the other sites. Tour does not operate on Mondays.
