Explore surprising Valparaíso, from the hilly Old Town to the thriving downtown and all the way to the fashionable resort of Viña del Mar.
Entering Viña del Mar, you will see the resort’s best-known landmark -- the famous floral clock. You’ll stop briefly to admire the exterior of the impressive casino, built in the 1930s, renovated in 2003, and set in beautiful gardens.
A visit to the Fonck Museum is also included. The museum exhibits an extensive and interesting collection of objects from Easter Island and the Chilean mainland, including a fine exhibit of Mapuche native silver.
Your tour then continues to the Casablanca Valley where you will have the chance to visit Puro Caballo -- a typical Chilean horse stable. You will be greeted with a Pisco Sour (the national beverage) and a warm empanada snack. An empanada is a meat turnover that is a local specialty. Spend time learning about the traditions of Chile's countryside. Enjoy a demonstration of Chilean horsemanship performed by a huaso (cowboy).
Afterwards, a well-deserved lunch awaits you at a local restaurant, where you will be able to taste typical Chilean dishes such as plateadas al horno (meat baked in an adobe oven). Finally, you will transfer to Santiago Airport in time for your flight.
Notes:
This option is available only to guests whose cruise ends in Valparaíso, with flights departing after 9pm. If you have already purchased an airport transfer with your cruise booking, it will be refunded on board the ship, as this excursion automatically includes a transfer.
