Travel north for two hours by coach along the National Highway on a journey that brings you to the Memorial Gate of Hluhluwe-Umfolozi Game Reserve. Here you'll switch to an open-air 4x4 vehicle.
Your unforgettable adventure in the Hluhluwe-Umfolozi Game Reserve now begins. The reserve shelters not only the wildlife of Zululand but also boasts the indefinable charm and tradition of the natural surroundings in one of the most fascinating parts of Africa.
Hluhluwe-Umfolozi has become well known for its small population of the rare white rhino and a spectacular variety of bird and animal life, including elephant, lion, leopard, buffalo, blue wildebeest, zebra, giraffe, cheetah, mountain reedbuck, kudu and warthog. During an open-vehicle game drive, you will likely encounter many of these stunning animals up close. Return to the Memorial Gate, where a light snack and a beverage are served.
Re-board the coach and transfer back to the ship at Richards Bay.
Notes:
Participants are not allowed to use cell phones during the game drive, or to speak loudly or stand up in the game drive vehicle, as this will disturb the animals. Smoking is not permitted. Guests with mobility limitations could encounter difficulties getting in and out of the open vehicle. The roads in the game reserve are gravel. There are also inclines and certain parts of the game drive can be bumpy. Not suitable for guests with back or neck conditions. Wear comfortable clothing; bring binoculars and water. Bring a hat; wear sunscreen and sunglasses. Minimum age is 6 years. Wildlife sightings are likely but are not guaranteed.
