Heading to Le Plateau -- downtown Abidjan -- enjoy the view from your coach and take in some modern architectural highlights. Watch for St Paul's Cathedral and La Pyramide, designed by Italian architect Rinaldo Olivier and celebrated as one of the Ivory Coast's most impressive structures.
Visit Le Musée des Civilisation de Côte d'Ivoire. This museum has a special focus on Ivorian art, showcasing statues, masks, jewelry, tools, carved doors, tom-toms and musical instruments from every region of the country.
En route to Cocody, you will pass Université Félix Houphouët-Boignythe (The University of Abidjan), an elite university with more than 50,000 students. The area of Cocody is an upscale residential neighborhood that has also become home to the presidential palace and numerous embassies, including the largest United States Embassy in Africa.
Drive over the popular Henri Konan Bédié Bridge, built in 2014. This expressway links the north and south of Abidjan, crossing the Ébrié Lagoon and connecting the districts of Cocody and Marcory.
Lunch is served at a traditional Ivorian restaurant.
Your last stop is at the Centre Artisanal de Abidjan (the Art and Crafts Market). You will have time to walk through the market and practice your haggling skills, perhaps picking up some local souvenirs.

Photographing military or government installations is not allowed in Ivory Coast. Local logistics can be challenging; please expect to be flexible. Your understanding is appreciated. Your guide will do his/her best to speak English, but please keep in mind that the limited tourism infrastructure here is part of the city's charm, and bear with any language difficulties he/she may encounter. Your guide will likely have a very strong Ivorian accent. Transportation is basic and falls well short of the standard you will find in many other ports. Participants should be in good physical condition; please realistically assess your physical fitness and ability prior to booking, as the weather is very hot. This tour is not advisable for guests using a wheelchair or for those with mobility limitations. Wear comfortable walking shoes. Shade is limited; please dress accordingly. Bring bottled water and a hat and wear biodegradable sunscreen. Leave all valuables in a safe on board the ship. Bring local currency (CFA), as credit cards are not widely accepted.
