Explore the wonders of the northern part of the island. You will stop at Jesús Village notable for having the oldest church in Ibiza. Originally part of a Franciscan monastery, the church is particularly well-known for its religious paintings. The altarpiece, created in the 16th century, shows the Annunciation and other chapters from the life of Mary. Art historians call this the finest work in the Balearics, and indeed among the most spectacular of its kind in all of Spain.
Continue to Santa Eulalia, a town located by the island's only river. Flourmills once reigned supreme along its shores, so this river played a very import role in the commercialization of Ibizan agriculture. Disembark from the coach for a short stroll uphill to the fortified church at the peak of Puig de Missa. The church is an excellent example of similar fortress churches built to defend local farmers from pirates.
Return to your coach at the bottom of the hill and drive back into the village for refreshments. Heading back to Ibiza, you will take a guided walk through heart of Ibiza, Vara Del Rey, located outside the citadel walls where you will see the old city gates called "Portal de ses Taules."
Notes:
Wear comfortable walking shoes and clothes. The walking tour involves paved paths with cobblestones.
